Faith Insight 1: What Does It Mean to Have a Faith That Truly Lives?

“Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.”— Genesis 5:24 (ESV)

This lesson helps you begin becoming a passionate follower of Jesus and learn every day what it means to have a faith that truly lives.

For many people, faith means believing certain things about God.

We believe that ___________ exists.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the __________________________.

We believe the ____________ Scripture teaches.

From the earliest pages of Scripture, we encounter a simple but profound description of a man named Enoch: “Enoch ______________ with God.” That short statement gives us a beautiful picture of living faith.

To walk with someone implies ________________________.

To walk with someone suggests ________________________________________, and continuing together.

This same pattern appears throughout Scripture.

Abraham __________ God enough to go where God called him.

Moses learned to __________ upon God's presence.

David sought God in __________, __________, __________, and hardship.

The disciples heard Jesus say, “Follow me,” and discovered that faith meant __________their lives to Him.

Biblical faith, then, is not merely knowing about God. It is __________ Him, trusting Him, listening to Him, and learning to __________ with Him.

REFLECTION

List three ways you would like to walk with God and know His ways in your life.

1.

2.

3.

In your quiet moment, pray this prayer.

Father, teach me what it means to walk with You. Help me not merely to know truths about You, but to know You more deeply. Give me faith to trust You, obedience to follow You, and grace to continue walking with You each day. In Jesus' name, amen.
